What is the lowest melting point metallic alloy?

The answer to this will be in the next edition of the Rowe Scientific newsletter.

Did you know the answer to the last quiz question?
“What common ingredient of dishwashing products may be used as an anticancer drug delivery system?”

Poloxamers, a polymeric non-ionic surfactant may be used to promote even draining of water from hard surfaces in dishwasher formulations¹ and to surround hydrophobic anticancer drugs for delivery.²

Congratulations to Ms Talia Bond, pictured below, the recipient of the Rowe Scientific Chemistry Scholarship for 2018/19.

Ms Talia Bond

"Talia is a third year Griffith University student studying a double degree in Forensic Science and Criminology with a dual major in Forensic Chemistry and Biology.

With forensics being Talia’s dream since she was only nine years old, after university she hopes to be accepted into the Australian Federal Police’s Graduate Program in a forensic science role or possibly continue on to post graduate study.

Talia has been a hardworking and dedicated student during her time at Griffith University, with current membership of the Griffith University Honours College, Criminology and Criminal Justice Academic Excellence Society and Golden Key International Honours Society.
Since January, Talia has been participating in a six month study abroad program, currently studying at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom."

Well done Talia, from the national staff of Rowe Scientific Pty Ltd.

Congratulations to Mr Daniel Harrison, from the national staff of Rowe Scientific Pty Ltd, on being selected as a recipient of a 2018/19 Rowe Scientific Vacation Award, by the UWA department of Chemistry and Biochemistry.

Mr Daniel Harrison

In Daniel’s words;

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank Rowe Scientific for their contribution to my ongoing research.

Your partnership has allowed me to focus on, and output high quality research in molecular electronics. Molecular electronics is a discipline in Chemistry that hopes to solve one of the greatest technological issues facing the 21st century.

This issue being our diminishing ability to improve our technological devices. I have been working on synthetic approaches to make molecules that have interesting redox and conductive properties for this application.
I have successfully clarified a synthetic pathway to these molecules and characterised their properties.”

Well done Daniel.

Ms Madeline Ianna

In Madeline’s words,

“I have always been interested in how things work.

What I love about science is the opportunity to delve into this and answer the important and almost always, complex questions.

For me, chemistry not only explains the how’s, but also the why’s, in understanding the fundamental processes in life.

For my honours project, I will undertake toxicity testing of metal pollutants in a marine system. I hope that my project and the knowledge developed from it, will be beneficial in protecting our environment.”

Congratulations Madeline, from all the national staff of Rowe Scientific Pty Ltd.

Dear Clients,

Our CEO, Peter Sommers, and I have just returned from the Pittcon Conference which despite declining attendance numbers is still the largest of the general scientific trade exhibitions in the US.

During the conference we met with several of our existing key distribution partners and also a range of new potential supply partners as we seek to evolve our product range in response to an expanding and ever changing customer base. In the coming weeks and months you will witness a range of new products added to our existing portfolio for applications in the life science, food, environmental, industrial and clinical sections of the scientific market.
The focus on adding new novel products to simplify routine laboratory tasks is a key element of our commitment to keep you supplied with the scientific items you need to do your work. As always, we welcome your feedback and if there are items which will streamline routine tasks in your laboratory, please share the details with one of our team members and we will pursue sourcing on your behalf.

Finally, no doubt you are enjoying the cooler weather in recent weeks and looking forward to the Easter break, as are the Rowe Scientific team in NSW. Trusting you will have a safe and relaxing break over the Easter weekend.

All the best from:
John, Allan, Hayden, Kathryn, Kazi, Rod and Troy.

Dear Clients,

Three months have already flown by and there is still so much to do.

Thanks for your continued support as we have been kept very busy with sourcing the products as need to do your work.

We are constantly looking for ways to not only improve our service, but to also increase cost savings for your daily requirements.

Purchasing by economic order quantities, i.e. by pack or box quantities not only saves you money but improves efficiencies with despatch from our warehouse.

Are you in the market for a new oven or incubator? We have an excellent range of MMM products manufactured to a high standard as you would expect from a German product . Click here to view a sample of our range on our website or call our our friendly sales team who are always eager to assist you.

Cheers from the Queensland team:
Yvonne, Andrew, Brian, Colin, George, Jacob, Josephine, Kiran, Leon, Martin, Robert, Steve.

Dear Clients,

Hopefully the hot weather is behind us now and we can move into some cooler weather that Autumn offers for all concerned.

We would like to welcome two recent additions to the Adelaide team. Mark Ames joins us to work in our Purchasing/Logistics role and Katelynn McInnes will join us in the office in an Internal Sales role to provide us with  much-needed respite with our workload.
As mentioned previously in our last newsletter, we are now the official distributor for the GlassChem agency in Australia. We have now received our first stocking order which includes a 4 place Volatile Acids (VA) unit, 4 place Sulfur, 2 place Sulfur and 1 VA combo unit which are all in stock at the time of writing.

Daniel recently attended a morning tea at the AHMS building in the city. Thank you to all of you who stopped by and had a chat with Daniel.

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we have a fully qualified and reliable production facility in our Perth Office. If you or your laboratory staff are continually manufacturing the same solutions day in day out, let us know as we can help by stocking your laboratory as you require. This enables you and your laboratory team to focus on analysis rather than simple reagent preparation.

All the best from:
Doug, Daniel, Dannielle, Joanne, Katelynn, Mark A, Mark H, Michael, Paula, Steve.

Dear Clients

It was a frenetic end to 2018 and we take the opportunity to thank all the customers whose support ensured we finished the year on a very high note.

Our Mission: The purpose of Rowe Scientific Pty Ltd is to keep our clients supplied with the scientific items they need to do their work.

Our Motto: Rowe Scientific - for when accuracy and professionalism are important.

If you need a decent laboratory chair or stool please give us a ring – the new Bimos range from Europe will be landing shortly.

Also - the MMM ovens and incubators are still on special. Please keep a look out for “Lablikes 3”. Our marketing team have been very busy setting up a new range of special deals  just for you. Looking to hear from you soon.

From your team in Victoria:
Garry, Adam, Amanda, Brian, Christine, Hoa, Mango, Nic.

Dear Clients,

John Dwyer and I have just returned from Pittcon, one of the largest Lab Equipment Exhibitions in the USA.

We caught up with existing suppliers, whilst seeking out new and innovative products to present to our customers.

These include for example tissue culture ware from SPL, a range of cryo applicable gloves and safety gear from Cryokit and Lab coats with some unique properties from Denline.

We will evaluate these and other suppliers and their products, putting samples out in the marketplace for your evaluation. I am excited about the quality of new suppliers and products and look forward to bringing them to you soon.

All the best from:
Peter Sommers and the Western Australian Team.
