Dentalife
Dentalife has been supplying dental and healthcare professionals with innovative, quality Australian designed and manufactured products for nearly a quarter of a century.
|
|
|
Our first product was created in 1999, a prophy paste developed in a suburban Melbourne garage by chemist Andrew Stray. Today, that prophy paste is one of over 40 products in the Dentalife range.
The past 25 years have seen many innovations and advancements made in the field of dentistry, and Dentalife has responded in kind, developing and growing our range of products to meet the ever-evolving needs of the profession. There is one thing however that hasn’t changed over the years – our commitment to creating and supplying our products locally.
|
|
We believe that products designed for the local market should be developed and manufactured locally. This is the simple ethos sitting at the heart of Dentalife’s operations, ensuring that we best understand the needs of our customers and can respond quickly with new product solutions that best meet those needs. Just like our prophy paste created in that Melbourne garage last century, each and every specialist dental and infection control product added to the Dentalife range since has been researched, developed and manufactured in Australia.

Question:
In 1996, Ritonavir, an anti-HIV drug was put on the market to much success. In 1998 however, the potency of the drug began to plummet, and the chemical was found to be less soluble and less bioavailable than it was originally, leading to the drug being pulled from the market for a number of years.
What was the cause of this?
The answer will be in the next edition of the Rowe Scientific Pty Ltd newsletter.
Did you know the answer to the last quiz question?
Only one Country can claim to be in all four hemispheres (northern and southern, eastern and western). What country is this?
Answer: Kiribati
A: Kiribati is made up of 32 coral atolls and one coral island in the pacific ocean. A number of these islands are located on either side of the Equator (hence in both the Northern and Southern Hemisphere), and on either side of the Prime Meridian (so is in both the Eastern and Western Hemisphere).

CURTIN UNIVERSITY ROWE SCIENTIFIC FOUNDATION HDR CHEMISTRY SCHOLARSHIP
Mr Michael Adamos and Ms Catherine Spadaccini at the award ceremony
Michael Adamos completed a Bachelor of Science (Honours) within the Discipline of Chemistry in 2023.
During his third-year research unit, Michael investigated the use of gold nanoparticles for the visualisation of fingermarks on eco-friendly soft-plastic substrates, under the supervision of Prof. Simon Lewis. During his Honours year, Michael continued research as a member of the Curtin University Forensic and Analytical Research Group, pivoting his focus from fingermarks to physical evidence, specifically document examination. He investigated the use of confocal Raman microscopy and time of flight – secondary ion mass spectrometry to probe two challenging tasks for forensic document examiners: the relative age comparison of inks on paper and the sequencing of overlapping signatures. Michael’s Honours research was supervised by Dr. Georgina Sauzier who is remaining Michael’s primary supervisor throughout his PhD candidature.
|
|
Michael will continue research in the physical evidence space with a shift in focus to the forensic characterisation of new and emerging polymeric materials and technologies. Michael aims to develop an understanding of the chemical properties of new and emerging polymeric materials and technologies and assess the value of information provided by crime laboratory polymer-analysis-protocols.
We extend our congratulations to Michael for this outstanding achievement.

NEW SOUTH WALES
Dear Clients,
It’s hard to believe we are only two months into the new year when you look at all the events happening on the global stage. We hope you are all settling well into 2025, and that the year has so far been kind to you. February was a time of celebration for many in the STEM community, with the 11th of February 2025 marking the 10th International Day of Women and Girls in Science. This day recognises the significant contributions of women in STEM and aims to promote equality and empowerment, by increasing access to education and participation in STEM for women and girls around the globe. As a trusted scientific supplier in Australia, we are extremely fortunate to know and work with so many wonderful women in STEM across the nation, and we are proud to support them in their work.
In February, we were also privileged to partake in training with a visitor from MMM Medcenter in relation to their range of Laboratory Ovens and Incubators; including a suite of options from standard ovens and incubators to vacuum ovens, cooled incubators, and climate chambers for control of humidity and temperature. If these are of interest to you, and you would like some guidance or assistance in locating a suitable item for your testing requirements, please don’t hesitate to contact our team directly so that we can discuss this with you further.
Lablikes issue 21 has also just been released, highlighting some excellent new products in the Rowe Scientific range as well as current specials on a variety of products, ask your rep for a copy today or download one here.
All the best from: Hayden, Ari, Cindy, Dylan, John, Kai, Sheema and Zena.

WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Dear Clients,
Two of our team have just returned from Pittcon, a United States based International conference where the latest advances in analytical research and scientific instrumentation are exhibited. We attend to find new partners and products, to provide you with the latest tools for your research and analysis. In the months to come we will evaluate opportunities and look to expand our portfolio offering.
Discovered at a previous show, I am excited to advise that we have added a new supplier of labcoats, glassware and labware. We have thoroughly evaluated samples from their range and are highly impressed. The labcoats are manufactured from a polyester/cotton mix, and are available in either normal or cuffed sleeve.
Ground joint glassware is undergoing a resurgence, we have an excellent quality product available. Stands, clamps, laboratory jacks and more, all at a price that regains your interest in purchasing these products from Rowe Scientific.
As you are reading this, we are placing stock on our shelves. Please use your web login and search for the product you need. Our range is extensive. If you cannot find what you seek, please contact your Account Manager and advise of your requirements.
Thanks for your business and trust in Rowe Scientific.
